El Paraíso

...Sittin' in the mornin' sun
I'll be sittin' when the evenin' come
Watching the ships roll in
And then I watch 'em roll away again, yeah

I'm sittin' on the dock of the bay
Watching the tide roll away
Ooo, I'm just sittin' on the dock of the bay
Wastin' time...

- Otis Redding

Quite different from all of the trips we have taken so far, our recent 3-night, 4-day jaunt to San Sebastian, Spain was nothing short of complete relaxation - lounging on the beach (with partly-cloudy, partly-sunny weather), drinking cheap Spanish wine, and eating tapas, or pinchos, as they are called in San Sebastian. We were accompanied by Kris, Bryan's good friend from high school, and his girlfriend, Laura, who were visiting London for work and play, and decided to join us in Spain. During our stay, we stumbled upon a wine & food festival in Old Town, had dinner at a Cider House (with an Australian couple from our hostel), lounged about on our hostel balcony with a view of the Cathedral, ate home-cooked Spanish breakfasts each morning, and took a tram to the top of Mount Igledo, for a gorgeous view of the bay.

San Sebastian is truly divine - difficult, in fact, to put into words. Here are a few that come to mind...Cultured. Romantic. Quaint. Stunning. Relaxed. Nostalgic. Lovely, just lovely.
